Both sides finally appear to have the necessary sense of urgency to get this whole mess resolved.

If they can iron out a deal by mid-July, there should be little or no disruption to the current schedule in terms of the start of summer training camps and preseason games.

For the first time since late March, when the owners decided to impose a lock-out on its players, actual numbers have surfaced concerning the split of the $9 billion of revenue that the league generates each year. It looks like the players will get a 48 percent piece of the whole pie as opposed to the old deal which gave them 50 percent of the revenue after the owners took the first billion right off the top.

The one change in the proposed new CBA that could have the biggest impact right off the bat are the rules governing free agency. From 2006 to 2009 a player with at least four years in the league was eligible to be an unrestricted free agent. This ballooned to six years in 2010, but is expected to go back to the original four-year time frame under the terms of the new CBA. This would add a number of quality players to the free agent ranks that are already waiting for an agreement in order to find a new home. Some of the more notable names that would be eligible are WR Steve Smith, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, and TE Kevin Boss of the Giants, OT Jermon Bushrod of the Saints, DT Brandon Mebane of the Seahawks, and LB Clint Session of the Colts.

The 100-day long lock-out that is likely to go on for at least a few more weeks will have cost this year's crop of rookies close to four months of vital preparation for their new career in the NFL.

Get all the NFL Lockout and CBA News at www.VicMonteSports.comVic Montehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12228938932747461935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3087385832124800841.post-55737730298295808312011-06-28T10:25:00.001-04:002011-06-28T10:25:29.581-04:00How To Win at Sports Bettingwww.VicMonteSports.com

Betting is a gambling game. But virtually everyone else -- like the vast majority involving players along with the fans -- would suffer.Inch

Goodell said the actual players' antitrust lawsuit contrary to the league "attacks practically every aspect of the actual system, like the draft, your salary hat and free-agency guidelines, which in concert have been accountable for the quality as well as popularity of the action for nearly 20 years." He also said players would likely enter the category as unrestricted free agents, free to market their services to any team, instead of being chosen in the draw up. And clubs could expended as much or even as little as they need on earnings.

"Is this the particular NFL thatjordan white Jersey will players would like?" Goodell wrote. "A league in which elite participants attract tremendous compensation and also benefits although other avid gamers -- those inadequate the sophisticated style and dealing power in the stars -- play for less money, much less benefits and shorter jobs than they have got today? The league the place that the competitive capability of clubs in smaller communities (Buffalo, New Orleans, Eco-friendly Bay and others) is forever cast straight into doubt through blind sticking with to free-market rules that favour teams inside larger, better-situated marketplaces?"

Extra Goodell: "Is this the NFL in which fans desire? A category where meticulously constructed principles proven to produce competitive stability -- close and exciting game titles every Sunday and close as well as exciting divisional as well as championship contests- -- are cast aside? Perform the players and their lawyers possess so little regard for the supporters that they think this truly serves their interests?"

Goodell concluded that "these outcomes are inescapable under virtually any approach aside from a comprehensive collective-bargaining contract."

Nelson has given the National football league until Some p.m. ET Wednesday in order to resubmit a obtain a caution on her lording it over. The group previously experienced filed fast motion for a stay that might put Nelson's choice on hold pending more appeals.

Extra Goodell: "Is this the NFL in which fans desire? They then score points based on their actual performance in real games.

Your fantasy tournament progresses in much the same way as the real football games. You go head-to-head, competing against another opponent each week.

If your team scores the most points by the end of the season, and has the best win-loss record, you win.

Fantasy football was invented by Danny Dulac, one of the organizers of the Raiders. He thought of it during a road trip to the east coast, and by the time he got back, he had fleshed out many of the rules and was "ready for kick off". Today, there are thousands of websites, magazines and software that are dedicated to fantasy sports.

This is how it works. You have a fantasy league with 8 to 12 teams, with players drafted at the start of the season. Depending on the league you join, you start with a clean slate every season or have a permanent partial roster (these players can't be included in the annual draft). Some leagues will have you keep the entire team and just draft rookies. At any time during the season owners can change their team by firing some players (that's life) and hiring free agents who were not drafted. You can also trade with other teams.

The scores are based on how the players do in their weekly NFL games. For example, a player gets 1 point for making 25 passing yards, 10 rushing yards, or 10 receiving yards. He gets a whopping 6 points for a touchdown (unless it's a passing touchdown, where he just gets 4). Errors can also affect your score. For example, every interception that is thrown subtracts two points. This also applies to fumbles.

Defensive scores are a little harder to compute, so some leagues opt to compute the scores primarily on yards. (They say it is more realistic and mimics the way an actual game works.) Defensive statistics such as sacks and fumble recoveries are then subtracted. To get the number of touchdowns, the total score is divided by a particular number (sometimes 80 or 100). Then any field goals made by placekickers are added to that score.

It's a very exciting game and adds a new dimension to the already popular game of football.Vic Montehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12228938932747461935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3087385832124800841.post-91093765350386948952011-05-11T11:33:00.000-04:002011-05-13T16:49:45.835-04:00Sports Handicappers Very Important to BettorsRegardless of the information that are made available today, there remains some sports bettors who do not have a total knowledge about sports gamble and sports handicappers. It?s true though that several of this information are not really important nevertheless there are some that may be very good for you.

One good example would be baseball. There are baseball gamblers who are curious about where they might get useful tips on their sports picks. Are you ready for the answer? (drum rolls) The pitchers! But then, before anything else, you need to understand that this doesn’t mean that you bet on just the very best pitchers. The thing is, the line up pitchers might most likely make it hard for these ?best? pitchers to put up a good fight. The Angels started the season off slow but have now ripped off 19 winners in their last 31 games. The Angels will try and keep the winning going with Ervin Santana. Santana allowed just 1 Earned Run in 15 innings of work last season against the Southsiders! The Angels right hander is coming into tonight's match up in great form having just allowed 1 earned run in his last 2 starts against the Rays & Red Sox! Its also important to note that the Angels are a remarkable 20-6 in Santana's last 26 starts in Game 1 of a Series! The White Sox will counter with struggling starter Edwin Jackson to the hill. Jackson has allowed 19 runs in his last 4 starts with the White Sox losing the game in all 4 starts. I don't expect Jackson to get back on track in Los Angeles. The White Sox starter is just 1-3 with a 7.54 ERA on the highway this season! Let's also make a note that Jackson has allowed 28 runs in 30 2/3 Innings of Work in Angels Stadium! Not only do I feel the Angels have a major advantage in starting pitching they also have an edge in the bullpen. The Angels own the American Leagues 5th best bullpen with a team ERA of just 3.22. The White Sox rank 11th in the junior circuit with a 4.66 Bullpen ERA. It has been well noted how the White Sox struggle with their sticks. Factor in a travel day from Seattle to Los Angeles and that does not bode well for the Chicago's offense. The Angels won their weekend series and spent last night resting in the comfort of their own homes. Let's play the Angels and Cash this Free MLB Ticket!Vic Montehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12228938932747461935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3087385832124800841.post-59728855386850079332011-05-09T10:51:00.000-04:002011-05-09T10:51:40.513-04:00137 Kentucky DerbyVic Montehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12228938932747461935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3087385832124800841.post-58358964892175703152011-05-07T11:08:00.001-04:002011-05-07T11:08:03.892-04:00Kentucky Derby WinnerKENTUCKY DERBY!

THE RUN FOR THE ROSES! Manute Bol
Height: 7'7'' Weight: 225 Pounds
Manute Bol played 10 seasons in the NBA (1985-1995). He played for four different teams: Washington Bullets, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, and Philadelphia 76ers. He averaged 18.7 minutes played per game over his career, but only 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 points per game. Considering all he has to do is catch the ball and lay it into the basketball without jumping, how come he only averaged 2.6 points per game? He was known for his blocked-shot ability. He set a rookie record in his 1985-1986 rookie season blocking 397 shots. He is also tied for the most blocked shots in one-half with eleven and is tied for the most blocked shots for one quarter with eight, in which he accomplished twice. He still holds the record for most blocked shots per minute with (.176). He also played with Muggsy Bogues during the Bogues 1987 rookie season pairing the tallest and shortest players in NBA history in one season. He is also the only player in NBA history to block more shots then he has scored.

2.) Gheorghe Muresan
Height: 7'7'' Weight: 303 Pounds
Gheorghe Muresan played only 6 seasons in the NBA (1993-2000). He played for two different teams, the Washington Bullets and New Jersey Nets. He averaged 21.9 minutes per game over his career, but only 6.4 rebounds and 9.8 points per game. Another big man, yet a fairy low rebounds/per game average. Some of you might remember Gheorghe Muresan from the movie "My Giant" (1998), where he starred with Billy Crystal and Kathleen Quinlan.

3.) Yao Ming
Height: 7'6'' Weight: 310 Pounds
Yao Ming played 6 full seasons and is still currently in his 7th season in the NBA (2002-Present). He has played for the Houston Rockets his whole career in the NBA. He averaged 32.6 minutes per game, while ripping down 9.2 rebounds and scoring 19 points per game till this day. Unlike the 2 tallest centers in the NBA, Yao Ming has been a workhorse and knows how to tally a stat sheet and is the only player in the top 10 tallest NBA players that is still playing.

4.) Shawn Bradley
Height: 7'6'' Weight: 275 Pounds
Shawn Bradley played 12 seasons (1993-2005). He has played for three different teams:Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, and Dallas Mavericks, where he spent the majority of his career. He averaged 23.5 minutes, 6.3 rebounds and 8.1 points per game during his career. Although he did average 2.5 blocks per game over his career, he has been known for a "Giant" who got dunked on many time.

5.) Chuck Nevitt
Height: 7'5'' Weight:250 Pounds
Chuck Nevitt played 9 seasons in the NBA (1982-1994). He did not play in 3 seasons over the 12 years of his career. He played for five teams throughout his career: Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, and San Antonio Spurs. He did not play more then 45 games in any season and just averaged 5.3 minutes, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.6 points per game throughout his career. Throughout his career he basically got play time during garbage minutes meaning his team usually had a big lead or was down to much to make a comeback, especially in Detroit. While in Detroit, the fans called Detroit's blow-outs, when Nevitt was able to get his minutes, "Nevitt Time". His nine seasons of minutes played totaled up to be about the length of 18 full NBA games.

6.) Slavko Vranes
Height: 7'5'' Weight: 275 Pounds
Slavko Vranes only played three minutes in one game with the Portland Trailblazers during his entire NBA career (2003-2004). He was drafted by the New York Knicks in 2003, but was released during the season, not playing one minute of any Knicks game. The Portland Trailblazers signed him a month after his release from the New York Knicks to a 10-day contract, where he played his only three minutes in the NBA.

7.) Mark Eaton
Height: 7'4'' Weight: 290 Pounds
Mark Eaton played 11 seasons in the NBA (1982-1993) and spent his whole career with the Utah Jazz. He averaged 28.8 minutes, 7.9 rebounds, and 6.0 points per game throughout his career. Mark Eaton was known for being a monster on defense averaging 3.5 blocks per game over his career and during his third season in the NBA he averaged a whopping 5.6 blocks per game.

8.) Rik Smits
Height: 7'4'' Weight: 265 Pounds
Rik Smits played 12 seasons in the NBA (1988-2000). Just like Mark Eaton, Rik Smits played his NBA career with one team, the Indiana Pacers. He averaged 26.6 minutes played, 6.1 rebounds, and 14.8 points scored per game during his career. Similar to Ralph Sampson and Mark Eaton, Rik Smits has had very a productive career.

9.) Ralph Sampson
Height: 7'4'' Weight: 235 Pounds
Ralph Simpson played 9 seasons in the NBA (1983-1992). He played for four different teams: Houston Rockets, (where he spent the first half of his career), Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, and Washington Bullets. He averaged 29.8 minutes played, 8.8 rebounds, and 15.4 points per game throughout his NBA career. He was teammates with another 7-foot player ,Hakeem Olajuwon, they were nicknamed the "Twin Towers".Throughout the middle of his career he battled knee injuries because of his big frame and when he was traded for the Rockets he was never able to stay healthy for a full season of games battling with knee and back injuries.

10.) Priest Lauderdale
Height: 7'4'' Weight: 325 Pounds
Priest Lauderdale only played 2 seasons in the NBA (1996-1998). He played one season with the Atlanta Hawks and one season with the Denver Nuggets. During his two-year career in the NBA, he averaged 7.1 minutes, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.4 points. After he left the NBA, he went to play basketball in Bulgaria.Vic Montehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12228938932747461935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3087385832124800841.post-84681570247721216962011-05-05T15:35:00.001-04:002011-05-05T15:35:05.232-04:00Betting Baseball UnderdogsBetting the Underdogs in Baseball
For most baseball bettors, the urge to bet the favorite is often too tempting to pass up. After all, the favorite is "supposed" to win, while the underdog is "supposed" to lose. The key for sports gamblers is to determine if the price on the favorite is a true estimation of the team's likelihood of winning the game. A favorite of -150 with a true probability of winning two out of three games is a good bet in the long run, while a favorite of -240 with a true probability of winning two out of three games, is not. For the most part, baseball bettors are far more likely to see the second scenario, as opposed to the first, as the oddsmakers know that the majority of baseball bettors are going to back the favorite, and they will adjust for that fact.

A seven year study of baseball results produced the following winning percentages and betting results:

Underdogs: 6917-9644 -153 units
Favorites: 9619-6891 -641 units

Even though the favorites won at a healthy 58.3-percentage clip, bettors who backed only the favorites would lose four times as much as a bettor who backed only underdogs. But since both scenarios will show a flat-rate loss, what we're looking for are certain situations that occur, where we can take advantage of the oddsmakers' tendency to inflate the line on the favorite, and look for value with the underdogs.Vic Montehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12228938932747461935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3087385832124800841.post-70802781179891883272011-04-27T07:03:00.000-04:002011-04-27T07:03:05.389-04:0015 Athletes Gone Bankrupt -
